Then, Bill Rosenthal told us the story about the ……

A wealthy man was having an affair with an Italian woman for several years. One night during one of their rendezvous, she confided in him that she was pregnant. Not wanting to ruin his reputation or his marriage, he would pay her a large sum of money if she would go to Italy to secretly give birth to the child. If she stayed in Italy to raise the child, he would pay child support until the child turned 18. She agreed, but asked how he would know when the baby was born. To keep it discrete, he told her to simply mail a post card and write “Spaghetti” on the back. He would then arrange for the child support payments to begin.

One day about 8 months later, he came home to his confused wife. His wife said, “Honey, you received a very strange post card today”. “Oh, just give it to me and I’ll explain it”, he said. The wife handed him the card and watched as her husband read the card, turned white and collapsed. On the card was written: “Spaghetti, Spaghetti, Spaghetti. Two with meatballs, one with out. Request bread…”.

Happy $$$:  Lot’s of dollars for Chris Teachout at the marathon; Scott for having driven the marathon route over the weekend; Melissa for going to Charleston for her sister-in-law’s wedding; ; Greg Cronin for the Bruins; Ron-happy to be a Rotarian; Eric Roseen for a great marathon weekend with his friend, and his girl friend taking the Medical Board exam; Deb Donovan for her promotion to handle not only Mass. but now New York for her job; Jim Brown great to be able to come to Rotary this week.

50:50: Deb Donovan had the lucky number, but did not draw the right card. Pot is at $490. Now it get’s interesting!

Guest Speakers: Today’s speakers were the NHS Robotics Team. This year they broughtand demonstrated one of their robots! Hans Batra is the teacher and Peter Mesnik, a parental volunteer, came as well. The members who visited were Thomas Lively, Chris Evan and Kevin. This High School club has existed for 12 years, and they have participated in a number of competitions over that time.

They use commercial software packages to write the software that controls the robot. It must be no larger than 18” x 18” x 18””. The remote control is controlled over a wireless LAN connection.

It is such fun to see these highly motivated students whoa re so into technology! You can’t help but feel their enthusiasm and know that they will succeed in these areas after high school.
