-Sounds like our Needham Rotary Musical event will be held on Saturday October 19th. Greg Cronin is looking for more musical talent in the club besides Bob Cocks, George Hoffmeister and Ron Sockol.

50/50: No winner. The pot is at $129.

Happy Dollars: Greg Cronin: glad to know where this weeks meeting is; many ‘happy dollars for having former Needham Rotarian back to be our guest speaker; Erica thanks to Wingate for the shrimp; Congratulation to Brenda (one of today’s hosts) on being pregnant; Doug George for being able to bring his mother to lunch; many ‘Happy Vacations; many HTBH.

Something about a lawyer who got out-foxed…

This week’s speaker, Walter Collins, is a former Needham Rotarian when he owned and operated the Briarwood Nursing home. He has since sold it and is now a consultant in his own company, the Herron Group, consulting to nursing facilities on light care and rehabilitation. However, he was visiting us as President of the Needham Business Association.

The Needham Business Association has kicked off a project “Discover Needham” to encourage folks to purchase products and services from local Needham vendors. Of $100 spent in Needham, $73 stays in Needham when purchasing from a local business, versus $43 for a non-local business. Think about it.

The NBA is a member of the Sustainable Business Network, which promotes ‘local first campaigns’ such as the NBA’s. They are planning on developing a booklet detailing Needham’s local vendors.
