Announcements:  
·        Rich Deets, new District Governor will be attending next week  
·        Dictionary project was approved by the Board for this fall
·        $100 approved by the Board to support a partially blind child from Barbados at the Perkins School for the Blind
·        4th of July parade and float was a success!!
·         Bob Welling resigned from the Club after decades with the Needham chapter.  He sent a letter thanking the Club and its members for all the great years!
·        Crutches for Africa is going well according to Karen.  The local papers have published information to the local communities about the effort and where people can drop of crutches, canes, walkers.  Clean out your attic and basement and SPREAD the WORD
·        Looking for 80 hosts for a 4-day stint to host folks as part of the Bandy Hefler exchange this fall.  See Karen for details.
·        Looking for STORAGE SPACE for all the Rotary gear.  We are losing our space at Jim Brown’s place and need to find a new location by November.
·        Charles held preliminary discussions with Olin College to host a fund raiser for Gift of Life.  Thought of hosting a carnival.
·        RILA thank you notes from the participants thanking Needham Rotary for sponsorship
·        Glen is looking for volunteers to help with the pancake breakfast
·        Glen is heading up the speaker circuit this year and is looking for speakers that will be of interest to the local general public to draw outsiders to our meetings to learn more about us and what we do.  What can we do to publicize our speakers to local community?

Happy $$$:  Many $$$ for the July 4th float, Ron’s great job weeding Memorial Park, George attending his first Rotary meeting without a “tie”!!!, Ryan for a great vacation last week, Bil for a nice visit with his daughters to Maine camp, Deb congratulations to Ally Reisman for Olympic qualifying and going for the gold! Doug, Rick and Scott for great time on the Cape and Islands and Bob Cocks for a great visit from son living in CA with grandchild.

Guest Speaker: None.  Charles discussed his vision for his term as president, outlining a 5-point plan:
·        Membership- add 4 net new members
·        Service Projects- add 1 or 2 new projects
·        Requests for contributions- would rather be proactive than reactive
·        Fundraisers- looking to add another fund raiser in addition to the pancake breakfast and 50:50
·        Next Generation of Rotarians- how can we leverage what we do at the schools to develop the next civic minded generation?
