Bill R. led us in the pledge of allegiance followed by Karen leading us in America the Beautiful.  Lois led us in a beautiful prayer.

Happy $$$:   George, Charles and Glen happy for Bill's new baby, Zelda, and to see Jerry G.  Ryan, Roz, Karen, Erica, Ron, Lois, Jerry, Doug, Janet happy for baby Zelda.  Ted happy for Zelda, Jerry, and prayers for Diego.  Scott happy his boat came out and he is going to the boat show in Ft Lauderdale tomorrow.  Tom happy for a warm fall, so far.  Bill R. happy for Mom and Daughter, Zelda.  Bill P happy for a visit from Katie.  Rachel an Louise happy for a sunny day.  Kathy happy for our guest.  Jo HTBH.  Bob happy for 39th wedding anniversary.

 

50/50:   The winning number was read by guest Joan Crawford, who then picked her own winning number.  Joan was not as lucky with her pick.  She drew the Ace of Hearts, rather than the Ace of Diamonds.

 

Humor:  Tom and Bill R. had some great stuff today!

  • Bill P. updated us on Dictionaries to Needham third graders and shared letters from 3rd graders.
  • YMCA fund raiser at the Wellesley College Club, Saturday, 10/29, from 7 to 11.
  • October 29th - RLI (Rotary Leadership Institute) training from 7:30 to 3:30 at Boxborough Holiday Inn.
  • November 5th - Pancake Breakfast - NeedhamHigh School.
  • Town-wide Volunteer Opportunities Fair on Thursday, December 8th from 3 to 6 at the Needham Public Library.

  • Ted spoke briefly about Gift of Life and gave us an update on Diego.
  • Louis spoke about the grand celebration of Needham's 300th on November 5th.  For $39, you can have a tour of the new Town Hall from 5-7.  $79 buys you a ticket to the big event starting at 7:30 and going until 1AM.  Tickets are available at the Needham Historical Society.

 

Birthdays:  We celebrated belated birthdays for Dan and Chris.  Glen picked our some great cards!

 

Speaker: Secretary Ann Hartstein spoke to us today about the Massachusetts Office of Elder Affairs that she heads up.  She was a former Needham Council on Aging Director for 11 years.  She is now Secretary of Elder Affairs.  For more information, please see following links: http://www.mass.gov/governor/administration/cabinet/elder/
