The meeting was called to order by our President, Glen Davis and he led us in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Bob Cock led us in “America” and Darrell prayed for the blessing.

Guests:

Evelyn Adlerstein joined us.  She stopped by our table at the recent Volunteer Fair and Ron Sockol suggested she stop by and join us for lunch to see what we were all about;  Libby Pero from Capron Lighting, a soon to be new member; Seth Sherwood, our speaker and Bill Curry who returned to join us from his new home down south.

Thank you to Bill Curry for his generous donation to the Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Birthday wishes:  none mentioned.

Happy Dollars:

Many Happy Dollars for the great musical event on Saturday and thanks to everyone who helped!  Welcome to Bill Curry; Scotty-looking for anyone willing to help babysit 3 month old grandson; and sorry for passing of Pete Seeger.

50/50

Doug George pulled the 7 of hearts and told us about the life of Franz Shubert as he tore his card.

Announcements:

Glen thanked everyone who worked on the music event on Saturday.  Great job was done by all and will provide a great base for next year.  We will collect all the money and have the winners, Jarod Horgan and Teddy Shapiro, join us for lunch and to receive their prize.

The February 11th meeting will be held at the new senior center, The Center on the Heights.

Lois is on vacation so we didn’t have a presidential moment this week.

Humor:

MOSES &THE RED SEA
Nine-year-old Joey, was asked by his mother what he had learned in Sunday school. "Well, Mom, our teacher told us how God sent Moses behind enemy lines on a rescue mission to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. When he got to the Red Sea, he had his army build a pontoon bridge and all the people walked across safely. Then, he radioed headquarters for reinforcements. They sent bombers to blow up the bridge and all the Israelites were saved." "Now, Joey, is that really what your teacher taught you?" his mother asked. "Well, no, Mom. But, if I told it the way the teacher did, you'd never believe it!"

AMISH BUMPER STICKER
While driving in Pennsylvania, a family caught up to an Amish carriage. The owner of the carriage obviously had a sense of humor, because attached to the back of the carriage was a hand printed sign..."Energy efficient vehicle: Runs on oats and grass. Caution: Do not step in exhaust.''

Guest Speaker:

Seth Sherwood, author and coach, spoke to us of his life experiences as motivational speaker on turning our life around with the help of God.  We should think about others first as we do in Rotary. Seth has two works to live by – DEPOT and HOT. Seth wrote “Trains Make U-Turns” about 5 simple steps to get your life on track.
