Charles led us in the pledge of allegiance. Bob Cox led the way with God Bless America, and Darrell led us in prayer. Thank you all.

 

Announcements:

  • Glen stated the regarding the Pancake Breakfast he will email us all to see what we normally do or would like to do and our schedules.  We have two “famous” guest servers for that day:  Dan Matthews and Denise Garlick
  • The scholarship committee reports that we will again offer two scholarships in the amount of $10,000 each for the coming year.  In the past we made good money in the stock market, but lately we have been losing money from our scholarship fund after paying out the scholarships.
  • Jim had a fireside” chat with Brenda Diaz, a potential new member and Eric (too late Eric, we gotcha)
  • Bill Paulson updated us via letter regarding the Child Assault Prevention Program thru the Needham Community Council.
  • 10/6 there is a RLI conference at the Holiday Inn in Boxboro, also the Harvest Fair
  • 11/3 is the date for the Pancake Breakfast.

Happy $$$:  Lots of “Welcome Back Kathy’s”.  Scott MacFarlane for being one of three thorns amongst two roses (Louise and Kathy).  Glen is happy the Red Sox season is almost over (wait until next year).  Melissa and Lois wished all a Happy New Year.  Darrell is full of smiles over his newest granddaughter.  Jim Brown for 36th wedding anniversary.  Bob Cocks for his visit with his daughters family in Atlanta.  Lots of HTBH’s and Greg Cronin for Needham High’s great start in the football season.

 

50:50: Chas Eberly had the lucky number of 676, but drew the 10 of hearts.  Pot is $226.00

 

Guest Speakers: Todd Patkin spoke.  He is an author, Needham High Grad (1983), successful business man and athlete.  He spoke about the subject matter in his book “Finding Happiness.”

Team Needham Rotary: Captain Chris Teachout, Jim Brown and Holly Brown participated in the Charles River Center's run earlier today. Chris came in first at 28:30, while Jim and his sister finished later. Needham Rotary was well represented at this fundraiser for a great event (see picture).
