Minutes of Meeting Tuesday July 30,2013

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by our president, Glen Davis; Karen led us in “America the Beautiful” and Daryl led us in the Invocation.

George led us in the welcome song.
Announcements:
Please pick up your shirts from Rich.
Music Fund Raiser is on 10/19. We also reserved the 18th. Greg will have a meeting of all interested helpers after our 8/8 luncheon meeting
Pres. Glen reported a net of $5041.50 from the pancake breakfast this spring. . but the baseball group might not want to join us next year so we might be back to the fall schedule.
Bill Paulson made a pitch for a home for the exchange student. He needs 1 more person to host him for the three winter months.
Matt McKeown has updated the list of scholarship winners and will attempt to contact them via facebook or a letter.
Lois announced a several week program for us to donate for for the Needham Community Council’s food pantry. If you have canned or packeaged food, or, pre-made non-perishable meals, please bring them to rotary. We will accumulate them and bring them to the NCC Food Pantry!
Glen announced a keys for hope. We will collect old keys, get them smelted and give the $ proceeds to charity.
Another Glen announcement was to remind us about the RLI meeting at the Boxborough Holiday Inn on 10/26.
Finally a sad bit of news. Tom Polito lost his father suddenly and a note to him would be appreciated.

Louise told the best joke and got a lot of laughs. Doug bombed (I’ll be back)
Guest Speaker:
Bill Brisk, Esq. spoke to us about the TOP TEN REASONS NOT TO CREAT A TRUST.
He didn’t say that all trusts were evil (much to Melissa’s delight) but that trusts can to certain things and cannot do certain things. It was a very thorough explanation and he concluded that we should have a trust created only when we know what we want and how the trust will work. Thank you Bill.
