• Guest Speaker: Ali Campbell and George Chamoun
Ali and George are seniors at NHS and members of “Be the Change” which meets every Friday at 7:10 am. The purpose is to improve leadership skills and try to make a difference in the world. George explained how it is not as important to have a project accepted as to be thinking of ideas and learning the systems to try to effect change and improvements. Ali talked about her experience in Kenya last summer and how she wants to take it further by taking a gap year before college to work at “Flying Kites” which is a dual school and orphanage serving about 29 students. She will be an ambassador acting as teacher aid, tutor and mentor who will work and live with the children at the school. She needs to raise $10,000 for her six month program (the money goes to pay for the teachers, supplies and students. Ali pays her own way on top of that!) She is seeking donations and has set up a website www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/ali-campbell/flyingkites where one can visit and purchase her photographs. Ali has raise $2,000 to date!
