Bill led us in the pledge of allegiance, with Karen leading us through America the Beautiful and Lois led us in prayer

 

Announcements:

·        Gift Cards: The Needham Community Council is still looking for local area gift cards with a value of $20 or more.  Cards should be delivered to the Center by December 9

·        The Needham Opportunity Volunteer Fair is being held at the Library Thursday from 4-6 PM

·        Still looking for VOLUNTEERS to ring the bell for the Salvation Army on December 10.  Contact Jim Brown to sign up.

·        Holiday Fair at Wingate December 10 from 10 – 3

·        Holiday party may be postponed until January due to low sign up. Stay tuned.

·        Boosters are selling Christmas Trees

·        Uganda update from Natalie Sarna who is teaching music to war orphans in Uganda.  Rotary made a donation to help fund this program

·        Board voted to sponsor a Little League Team and 1st Night

·        Looking for volunteers to serve on the nominating committee- volunteers to date are Lois and Ron Sockol

 Guest Speaker: Dominca Donovan spoke about her experience in Camp GLOW (Girls Leading Our World) in Tonga, South Pacific.  The purpose of the program is targeted to girls grade 9 and up to help them to feel empowered to initiate change and become leaders within their community and country.  On her next return home she will be happy to come in to present in greater detail.

Our very own Ted Shaughnessy presented a video on Gift of Life.  Gift of Life has saved over 12,000 children worldwide.  New England has saved 40 from 18 different countries.  Gift of Life is also sending missions, in teams of 10-20 to countries to perform treatment where adequate facilities are available.  Maine Medical in Portland, ME is trying to get established as a service provider.  Ted recognized recent members to the Board of the New England chapter, Bill Rosenthal and Glen Davis.
