VP Charles Nelson led us in the pledge of allegiance, with Bob Cocks leading us through ‘God Bless America’ and Rev. Darrell led us in prayer.

Announcements:

·        Prayer’s needed: Chris Teachout. Grandson in law of Bob Day, mentioned that Bob is presently in the hospital, and has requested our positive thoughts and prayers.

·        Bill Rosenthal was out because of sickness. He could use our positive thoughts and prayers as well.

·        Ken let us know he has tickets for the Boston Bruins Rotary Night on Tuesday February 10th. Plus, he is hoping to get tickets for the Celtics. See Ken for details.

·        Our Rotary BOD has allotted $1000 to the Tippet Hospice House. In fact, they are trying to increase it through a District Simplified Grant, which would include other clubs. Recall our past member Merna Stanley was there in her last days, and, back in the late 1980s, Ron Sockol and other club members helped The Tippet House in their reconstruction.

·        While Glen Davis did not want to make a big deal of it, HE GOT ENGAGED!! Several people gave Happy Dollars to celebrate, but it deserves more than that: Congrats Glen!!

·        Welcome Back Greg Cronin! He was absent 5 weeks, and although Rachel did a great job as Sgt. At Arms, we are still thrilled to have him return!!

Birthdays:

Guests: Lyman Jackson of the Charles River Club was with us; Roberta Seligman, of Griswold Special Care, was also with us.

Michael Sterby (a former member at the YMCA) has apparently moved to San Francisco where he wants to join Rotary. Lot’s of Happy New Years!!

50:50: Gary (second week in a row) with ticket with ticket #872. However, no luck with the card draw. $105 in the pot. Greg Cronin gave $5 for having missed 5 weeks. We are delighted to have him back!!
